Venturing into one of many "scenic byways"* Lincoln Highway lead me to Tipton Iowa. I arrived just a few days after Mayor Pete gave Tipton a stump speech on his plan for rural America.
* The Lincoln Highway known by early travelers no longer exists. Completed in 1912, originally it connected one small town or city to another along Route 30 between the Golden Gate Bridge and the Liberty Bell. But how can that be as the Bridge wasn’t completed until 1938? Today Route 30 in Iowa I experienced it as a highway bypass route designed to avoid small towns. Quaint signs alerting drivers to the original LH path are scenic

On a warm Denver evening John Emerson and I met for dinner to catch up. I'd hired him after he'd finished an MBA at Cal Berkeley to work in Marketing for WebScheduler, a business I still operate today. Hiring John was a lucky stroke in my business life. He added ideas to a nascent Internet business that remain central to our operations today.
